At Castleware Baby we are proud to have stayed true to our vision to create organic sleepwear that is made in the USA. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTA), 'Made in USA' means that an item must be made within the United States from “all or virtually all” American parts. This means that all of the components, as well as the processing required to make a product, must be sourced from within the US.
For clothing to have a "Made in USA" label, the item must be cut and sewn in the US from a material created in the US. However, the fiber or yarn used to create the material can be from places outside of the US. The fabric used for Castleware Baby products is knitted in the Carolinas and Southern California using organic cotton grown in West Texas and India.
Everything from design to finish is and has always been completed in the USA. From the time we started the business as a mom and pop business to manufacturing in Los Angeles and now Detroit, MI. We have strived to support American workers, manufacturers, and distributors. We wanted to keep things in America because what better way is there to support friends and neighbors while creating the best products and leaving the smallest footprint?
At Castleware Baby, we model ourselves after old-world US companies because everything is done in the USA. Our fabric, which is mostly sourced from West Texas, is sent to South Carolina to be knitted and then to Los Angeles, where our baby pajamas including sleeping bags, wearable blankets, footie pajamas, and long johns are manufactured. All items are sent to the finisher for shrinking and then the cutting house. It is important to note that all of our fabrics are preshrunk using only hot water and aren’t fumigated so you don’t have to worry about shrinkage or chemical exposure. All of our baby clothes are also free of fire-resistant chemicals because these chemicals have been found to be toxic to humans and have been correlated to neurodevelopmental problems in children and abnormal thyroid function in pregnant women. Due to the fact that sleepwear isn’t treated for fire resistance, just be sure that all garments worn for sleep fit snugly for child safety.
At Castleware Baby our standards are world-class to match the most stringent laws of Europe and the United States. We have a manufacturer’s license and adhere to California labor policies.
As you can see, we at Castleware Baby take great pride in our Made in USA" label and are proud that all of our products are American made. It is so rewarding to know that we are doing our part towards sustaining employment in America.
